• I work within one of the largest local authority in England, advising headteachers, governors, and parents with up to date knowledge.

  • I have represented the local authority in exclusion meetings for over a decade.

  • I have delivered training to boards, trustees, and clerks, applying statutory guidance to real life scenarios I have experienced.

Exclusions have been rising nationally every year since the pandemic ended, resulting in increasing duties for governing boards to apply statutory guidance to make decisions. This in turn has also resulted in boards facing scrutiny from independent review panels, often recommending or directing boards to reconsider their decisions.

What’s happening and how can I help you?

My training aims to help boards:

  • Understand when there is a legal duty to consider reinstating a pupil;

  • Apply statutory guidance carefully to the evidence presented;

  • Run hearings confidently and fairly for all parties;

  • Reduce the likelihood of independent review panels directing boards to reconsider decisions.

If you’d like your board to feel confident when considering permanent exclusions, or you are a headteacher who would like to know what to consider before excluding a pupil, you can explore my live online training sessions by clicking on the button below.
