Good to know when considering booking a training session.

-
Why should I choose LK Training & Consultancy?
My name is Lee Kennedy and I am the owner of LK Training & Consultancy. I regularly attend exclusion meetings and have many years of experience training schools and governors on statutory exclusions guidance as an active LA representative.
-
Which video platform is used for training?
Microsoft Teams is used to deliver all training provided by LK Training & Consultancy. Unfortunately participants will not be able to join sessions via other video conferencing platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet.
-
Do you provide exclusion training in person?
All training is presented by Lee Kennedy, owner of LK Training & Consultancy online and live via Microsoft Teams. Unfortunately training in person is not available at this time.
-
Do you provide any official accreditation for your training?
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance for joining a training session with LK Training & Consultancy. Certificates do not act as official accreditation or a recognised qualification.
-
I am a school governor. Is exclusion training mandatory?
Department for Education exclusions guidance recommends governors are trained before considering an exclusion. Some Independent review panels expect governors to have received training.
-
Will I receive any resources shared during the training?
Yes. The slides used during the sessions will be emailed to all participants, however in line with copyright regulations they must not be shared without consent from LK Training & Consultancy.
-
Will the training session I join be recorded so I can watch it back later?
Sessions will not recorded to ensure privacy and confidentiality, and to put participants at ease when interacting. For copyright reasons, participants will be unable to record sessions themselves and any resources cannot be shared without consent. Please see the Privacy policy via the link in the bottom right corner of this web page.
-
I am interested in some bespoke training. Can you provide this?
All sessions are designed to ensure key statutory information is shared. In some cases, for example where the training is on a 1 :1 basis or for a single governing board with an exclusion meeting pending, it can be adapted to ensure there is a greater focus on key themes. Please make an enquiry via the Contact page to discuss your requirements.
-
What should I do if I have a technical difficulty during a session?
Technology sometimes goes wrong for all of us! You may wish to leave the session and rejoin via the link, or reboot your computer completely. I will also be online 30 mins before the session starts if you wish to test your connection. If this still proves unsuccessful then please contact me to arrange booking on to an alternative date.
-
Is the training provided by LK Training & Consultancy classed as legal advice?
No. All training is professional development for governors, headteachers and clerks based on statutory exclusions guidance published by the Department for Education, but does not in any way constitute legal advice and this should therefore be sought from the legal service used by the school.
-
Are you able to join one of our exclusion meetings in person or online to advise?
I am unable to act as an independent advisor at meetings where a pupil’s exclusion is being considered by the school’s governors/trustees, nor am I able to act as an adviser at independent reviews for individual cases where a panel is requested to review a governing board’s decision.
-
Do you provide training on inclusive practices and behaviour management?
No. All sessions focus on training governors, headteachers and clerks to be compliant with statutory exclusions guidance and not advising on what interventions should have been made for pupils to prevent or minimise risk of exclusion. I do not hold a teaching qualification.
-
Do you provide training for independent review panel members?
At this time I am unfortunately unable to provide training for members of independent review panels who are required to review the decision of a governing board not to reinstate a permanently excluded pupil.
-
Do you represent parents at exclusion meetings with governors?
LK Training & Consultancy is impartial and does not represent parents, schools, governors or local authorities at meetings where there is a duty for the governors to consider a pupil’s exclusion from school. The same applies for independent reviews.
-
Do you train clerks required to provide clerking services at independent reviews?
At this time I am unfortunately unable to provide training for clerks to independent review panels, but have training sessions available for clerks supporting their governors or trustees when considering reinstatement of excluded pupils.
-
Do you run any training during school holidays, weekends or during the working day?
Due to work commitments as a full time local authority employee I am only able to provide training in the evenings. I can offer training during the evenings in school holidays. Please contact me to discuss specific requirements.
-
I have booked on to a session but need to cancel at short notice. What should I do?
I will always aim to be as flexible as possible and book you on to a session on another date. Unfortunately cancellations with less than 24 hours notice cannot be refunded. Please see the Terms and Conditions policy for more information.
-
Why are you unable to provide training for governors, clerks and school leaders in Kent?
I am currently an employee representing Kent local authority in connection with school exclusions. Therefore it is important I retain an impartial position and boundary between my main role in the LA, and my work as owner of LK Training & Consultancy.
