Who is this training for?
School governors who have opted to be part of a panel to consider reinstatement of an excluded pupil should the scenario arise.
This session has been designed for a governor with little or no knowledge of statutory exclusions guidance and will aim to give them the knowledge and confidence to make a robust decision in accordance with the guidance.
Governors may also wish to book on to this session as a ‘refresher’ if they have some previous knowledge and experience of this subject but not had training for two or more years.

What will we cover in this session?

This session can be booked by a governor or trustees from any school or academy trust. If you would like exclusive training for your specific group of governors from your school please go to this page.
This session will be facilitated by Lee Kennedy.
The session is specifically designed for governors new to the exclusion process.
A Microsoft Teams link for the session will be shared with participants by email once the booking has been made.
It is advisable to join via the Teams link a few minutes before the session starts to ensure you have connected successfully.
This training links to the statutory exclusions guidance published by the Department for Education in August 2024, therefore will be for schools and academies in England only.
The session may be rescheduled if there are less than five participants booked on. 48 hours notice will be provided.
This session is not available for booking by governors of Kent schools due to the facilitator’s day to day role as an LA representative in Kent.
