Who is this training for?
School Leaders (Headteachers, Principals, Heads of School) and other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
This session has been designed for School Leaders with little or no knowledge of statutory exclusions guidance, especially if new to role.
The session is mainly tailored to circumstances where you have made the decision to permanently exclude a pupil. However it also applies in cases where you have suspended a pupil which triggers a legal duty for your governors/trustees to meet to consider reinstatement of the pupil.
This session is also suitable for booking by other members of your Senior Leadership Team who have delegated responsibility to exclude a pupil in your absence.

What is helpful to know?
This session can be booked by a School Leader from any school or academy across England, and can also be run as an individual (1:1) session at short notice.
This session will be facilitated by Lee Kennedy.
A Microsoft Teams link for the session will be sent to participants within the booking confirmation email.
It is advisable to join via the Teams link a few minutes before the session starts to ensure you have connected successfully.
This training is particularly focused on scenarios where the governing board / academy trustees have a statutory duty to meet to consider a School Leader’s decision to permanently exclude a pupil, or where the number of suspensions exceed 15 school days in a term.
This training is not designed to advise a School Leader whether to exclude a pupil, or make a decision on their behalf.
Due to my professional role within Kent, training is available for schools and academies outside Kent.
